Tamil actor Powerstar Srinivasan joined BJP on Monday in the presence of Union minister Pon Radhakrishnan.
Party sources said the comedian would be a star campaigner for the party in the assembly election.
Srinivasan started off as a medical practitioner before turning towards financial consultancy and films.
BJP has been trying to rope in Tamil film industry personalities to add some glamour to its poll campaign to draw crowds. Actor-turned-politician Napolean joined BJP in November last year and was subsequently elevated as one of the vice presidents of the party.
BJP has been so far unsuccessful in wooing superstar Rajinikanth to its fold.
